JIMMY LILLYMAN

“I feel the industry is full of egos and Jack is quite the opposite. He’s thoughtful and holds his coaching to the highest standard.

I appreciate your efforts and getting me in the best condition of my life.”

STARTING POINT.

Jimmy knew a photoshoot was on the cards for 2024. He’d put in a lot of ground-work over the years to build his physique, but was certain that he didn’t want to lose muscle in the process of trying to show it off.

This wasn’t Jimmy’s first photoshoot prep, and many mistakes were made in the past that he didn’t want to repeat.

“I always found I’d lose size, and put myself into poor health through taking it to an extreme. I think overall I needed help to take myself to a new level.”

This goal wasn’t just to get a shredded as possible. It was to beat his previous best and show up on the day feeling lean AND muscular, not emaciated and resembling Christian Bale from The Machinist!

In order to manage this, we continued a further 10 weeks on an improvement phase, looking to build training intensity and all-time strength. We also managed to get Jimmy’s calorie set point up to around 3500 calories, allowing us a high position to pull from.

20 WEEKS LATER…

Given the solid starting position, it was only a matter of time until Jimmy was going to achieve his best shape. My primary role from this point on was to help Jimmy overcome the small barriers that arose on a weekly basis - from managing energy and hunger, to supporting performance as much as possible.

“It was exactly what I needed. I’ve learned loads as each check in there was usually education involved with coaching interventions. Through prep there was a lot of attention in maintaining performance, I think this was a big learning point for me - it’s not just about pulling cals but also holding performance to hold tissue.”

As we got near to the photoshoot day, service was ramped up to help Jimmy navigate the mental battles that arise... “Am I going to be ready?”

“The high touch points through peak week was a massive help to put me at ease, and I know other coaches would not communicate or go to those lengths for their clients.”

There will always be an emphasis on education when coaching my clients. Not just to help them understand why they’re doing certain things, but it empowers them to help their own clients through a similar journey. After the success of Jimmy’s prep, I have no doubt he’d be able to repeat the process with any of his clients that want to undertake such a big goal.

“For me the most valuable thing was having Jack available to ask about anything coaching related. The training and nutrition adjustments are great, but being able ask anything, whether that’s to progress my own coaching business, a client that’s stuck or thoughts on certain methodologies. The educational videos are also very valuable, covering all areas that only adds value to the coaching but I can also transfer to my own.”
